Questions people ask
What is Sur & Sauda?
Sur & Sauda is a free platform that explains the business of Indian independent music: royalties, rights, AI, marketing and working with brands. Sur is the song; sauda is the deal. Every number on the site comes with its source.
How do independent artists in India get paid?
Every song has two copyrights: the song and the recording. The recording earns through your distributor and PPL India; the song earns publishing royalties through IPRS; singers and musicians earn performer royalties through ISAMRA.
